Location: Princess Park Battery

EXHIBITION

The Romantic Picturesque is a culmination of performance and video works inspired by Pacific postcards of the early 1900’s. Ulutupu draws upon these ‘exotic landscapes’ which were a subject of fascination for the western world, and colonisers of Aotearoa. The Romantic Picturesque at the Princess Park Battery aims to re-centre our fixation with the picturesque, through collaborating with other performers, artists, and musicians to explore themes of love, nature and poetry.

 ABOUT PLAY_STATION

Play_station are a new artist-run space with a focus on exhibiting work and projects by emerging artists, located in central Wellington, New Zealand. They are a collective of six young artists that have all graduated in fine arts and design in the last two years in Wellington. Play_station opened our their doors in response to a lack of artist-run spaces in Wellington and to provide opportunities to the many artists that the city houses. The organisation seek to offer a diverse program of visual art that provides opportunities and builds relationships with local emerging artists.
